Jam Protection Pulse Sensor Circuit on Back Door

DESCRIPTION

The back door ECU monitors the condition of the power window motor and detects the position of the door glass by using pulse signals output from the 2 pulse sensors in the power window motor.

  • PLS1 pulse sensor circuit malfunction
  • PLS2 pulse sensor circuit malfunction
  • Pulse direction is opposite to motor rotating direction (Short circuit between PLS1 and PLS2)
  • PLS1 and PLS2 pulse sensors circuit malfunction
  • Fully closed position is misaligned
  • Back door Power window regulator motor
  • Back door ECU
  • Harness or connector

FAIL-SAFE

If the pulse sensor in the back door power window regulator motor malfunctions (DTC B2221 is output), the power window functions will be restricted:

  • The AUTO UP/ DOWN function is disabled.
  • The MANUAL UP/DOWN function via the back door power window switch can be performed with the ignition switch ON.
  • The MANUAL UP/DOWN function via the back door lock key cylinder can be performed with the ignition switch ON.

1.

PERFORM INITIALIZATION (BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR)

(a) Initialize the back door power window regulator motor WINDOW / GLASS: POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia) .

CHECK DTC

(a) Clear the DTC WINDOW / GLASS: POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

(b) Check for DTC WINDOW / GLASS: POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

OK:

DTC is not output.

OK

3.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR ECU - BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR)


(a) Disconnect the V3 back door ECU connector.

(b) Disconnect the V4 back door power window regulator motor connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Replace back door power window regulator motor DOOR / HATCH: BACK DOOR: DISASSEMBLY (2008 Sequoia)+ .
